Live streaming has been on everyone's lips since Corona at the latest. At the moment it seems that there is somebody streaming almost around the clock. Even companies seem to throw their usual quality standards overboard. Virtual events via providers such as Zoom, produced with the webcam built into the laptop, may work technically, but the results are rarely convincing. Streams for a limited circle of users via Youtube, Facebook and Co. should be a no-go anyway.
With the vivent platform, altares offers a protected, responsive webapp that brings your virtual event securely and in high quality to the net. You can find more information about vivent here. Of course, we can also transmit streams to other platforms or to your intranet - even in parallel.
The central element - besides voting and interaction elements like Sli.do, which can be integrated - is almost always the livestream. You should not make any compromises in quality here. In addition to the content and possibly the story, several factors are decisive:
Production
As with physical events, the scale is open upwards in terms of production effort. Of course, I can set up a complete studio or work in a green screen. But mostly it is enough to use a two camera setup and reasonable professional lighting instead of a webcam. If the stream is now supplemented by fade-ins or live connections to other locations, your "web video" suddenly becomes a high-quality and exciting live stream that fascinates your viewers and virtual visitors.
altares offers you the production of your stream or recording in Full-HD broadcast quality - tailored to your requirements and budget: Single or multi-camera setup, broadcast video and audio equipment, lighting tailored to your needs and a professional team.
Our video team will of course also be happy to prepare all graphics, animations, clips as well as intro and outro for you.
Streaming
The produced video signal is converted via hardware encoders into a streaming-capable format and transferred to the content delivery network (CDN). We work with Akamai, the market leader in scaling and global reach and performance, with edge servers in 133 countries. This enables us to ensure that all your viewers get the best possible quality delivered with the lowest possible latency.
A word about latency: Latency is the delay of the stream. Many of you may have been annoyed at the occasional football match on TV that your neighbours are already cheering when you watch the striker dribbling through the rows of defenders into the penalty area. This is the latency - the delay in the delivery of the video and audio signal. The latency simply does not play a role in many live streams. Whether the viewer sees the goal 30 seconds earlier or later is (usually) irrelevant - unless the neighbour is watching with a lower latency and robs you of the suspense. But for live events with interactions (e.g. questions or voting), latency is certainly a big issue. Most live streaming providers and CDN deliver your video feed with a delay of up to 4 minutes (usually 120 - 180 seconds). Even 120 seconds live is a felt eternity, when the speaker asks the audience to vote and then has to wait 2 minutes until the first viewer even notices this. Through the use of a professional production chain and a special low-latency CDN access point, we achieve live streams from altares usually have a latency of 10 to maximum 20 seconds.
Recording, Post-Production
Of course, we always record the stream in parallel and make it available to you for further use. On request, you can also receive the raw material (i.e. the recordings of all cameras with time code) for further processing at your premises - or our video team can take over the post-production for you immediately.
Video player
The last crucial point is the streaming player embedded in the portal or app. We rely on the leading, responsive and mobile-ready player. The Adaptive Media Player supports Quality of Service, automatic selection of bitrate and CDN nodes.
Are you planning an international virtual event? On request we can also produce a multilingual livestream. In case of two languages, two parallel streams with the corresponding embedded audio signal can easily be transmitted. More languages require special technology in order not to overload the capacity of the Internet line at the event location: we then transmit a video signal and separate audio signals as they come from the simultaneous interpreters. In the CDN's access server, these individual signals are merged and transmitted to a special multi-language player at the viewer's end, with a language selection.
Congresses & conferences, annual general meetings, general meetings and general assemblies, web shows, concerts, sports events or trade fairs - we will be happy to support you. We have the right technology for every type of live streaming and can meet your requirements, wishes and also your budget.
